Volunteering
There are several ways that you can volunteer and help Home-Start Aylesbury - by becoming a home- visiting volunteer, joining the Trustee board or by fundraising.
Who are our volunteers?
Home-Start Aylesbury's home-visiting volunteers come from many different backgrounds and vary in age but all are either parents themselves or have parenting experience and are carefully selected for their friendliness and understanding. All volunteers attend a course of preparation before being linked with families and then take their own individual skills and experience to the families they visit. Volunteers visit families in the home because a parent has asked for help, they wish to offer their time and friendship and they will accept a parent as they are.
The
Home-Start Aylesbury Trustee board is made up of local people from
a
wide range of backgrounds, from legal services, health visiting,
education and business. The main
requirements of a trustee are
a real
interest in the family support work we undertake and a willingness to
be involved and active in the running of the charity.
Fundraising volunteers can be involved by helping to financially support the work of Home-Start Aylesbury. From running a marathon, to holding a tea party, to selling raffle tickets - we are always happy to receive suggestions for fundraising events and are very grateful for all efforts made on our behalf.
What are the benefits of volunteering?
You will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a valuable contribution to your local community and helping to provide effective support for ordinary families with young children during the most important early years.
Being a volunteer can build your confidence and skills, you can access on-going training and Home-Start Aylesbury will support you in personal goals wherever we can. Many volunteers find that volunteering is often the first step back into further education or paid employment after a career break.
