Get Support
Who do we support?
Any parent living in Aylesbury Vale who has one or more children under 5 years old and wants our support through a difficult time. Our support through a difficult time, which could include
- Feeling isolated, with no family nearby and struggling to make friends
- Suffering with post-natal illness but finding it hard to talk to anyone about it
- Having a hard time coping with your child’s illness or disability
- Being overwhelmed by the death of a loved one
- Struggling with the emotional and practical demands of twins, triplets or several young children
- Feeling exhausted or depressed
What do we offer?
A carefully selected and trained volunteer, who is a parent themselves, will visit regularly for 2-3 hours once a week in the family home. Volunteers offer emotional and practical support – it is the parent who decides what would be helpful, sometimes that can change from week to week. Support can include:
- listening ear/someone to talk to
- adult company
- help/play with your children
- reassurance
- help to get out/find out about other services
- encouragement and motivation
- practical help
How can I get support?
Phone us on 01296 485615 or email home-start-aylesbury@talktalkbusiness.net to ask for a referral form. Alternatively a health visitor or G.P can make a referral on a parent’s behalf.
Once we receive a referral we contact the parent and arrange a visit to discuss what support is needed and how we can help.
Home-Start Aylesbury is an independent and confidential volunteer service for ordinary parents going through difficult times, we only support you at your request.
